Other Services for you

1. Mowing: We visit weekly to mow, this includes trimming edges and blowing grass clippings off driveways and sidewalks, starting at $50 per visit. (2500 sq.ft.) We cannot mow wet grass and we will return asap.

If grass is not growing during a drought or if we are rained out, or choose not to cut, when we return, we usually need to cut it twice. Invoices are reduced to reflect an early spring or late fall due to fewer visits. We may add or skip some treatments depending on conditions, if grass is not growing during a drought. Surcharges will apply if our costs go up (+10%) during the season, typically under a dollar.

Combine mowing with lawn care (weed control and fertilizer). We bill at month's end after all the work is done. It is a blended fixed monthly fee; it’s the same amount whether it is a 4- or 5-week month.

2. Extra Weed Control: If you have a weed invasion beyond the basic lawn care plan, more than the normal number of weeds, that will require extra time. We pull weeds each visit and may not get them all. Lawns are always under attack as seeds and spores blow in all the time.

3. Cleaning up Leaves: For a small clean-up or mulching a small number of leaves, there’s never a charge, but for large clean-ups, it’s $50 per hour. Bin rental about 500 trips to the dump start at 250

Acorns, pine cones, and needles. Leaves do not come down all at once, so we need repeated trips—wet leaves require far more effort. You set the standard to tell us when to stop coming. We can take leaves to the curb, go to the dump, or bag.

4. Fix Snow Mould: Rake the area to remove the dead portion. The roots are ok, always good to rake the entire lawn in spring, $50 per hour. It's not dangerous to your health or your pets.

5. Aeration: Average 125 (liquid or core) Water first to soften soil, fall, or spring.

6. Over Seeding: Average 125

7. Top Dressing: Average 350. Enriched soil, delivered and raked out. High clay content means poor drainage. Sandy and clay soils needs nutrients.

My newsletters are free and contain advice and resources that save you time, money, and worry. We will alert you to anything that is dangerous: branches that need to cut (2 deaths from falling trees in Oakville past 20 years one at RBG and one on Trafalgar)- heavy icicles in winter or clogged vents.

29. Research and Advice: for plant or turf selection, consultations are 50/hour plus HST. Advice: Have a licensed arborist, (200+ per hour) check your trees every few years for pruning, fertilizers also have an irrigation system. For security, we recommend, having a home  camera and motion detector lighting-yes, a camera in your vehicle.

30. Fair Labour and Pricing Explanation: Everyone needs to make a living wage. The industry standard is 60 to 100 per hour per person, we are 50 plus HST and materials per worker, i.e. 2-person team 110 per hour. (Gardening, leaves, pruning).

In Ontario, the 2024 minimum wage is 17.20. As an average minimum wage earner worker, you just show up. We need specialized education, equipment, permits, training in safety equipment, need to be physically fit and able to work outside in the heat and dusty environments.

We need to pay for insurance, licenses, wages, gas, maintenance, accounting, various taxes (about 50%), vehicles, tools, equipment, soil, seed, advertising, training, rent, and administration.
